Back in the knitting world

My friend Mary DeVan taught me how to knit a hat! So I've made 2 this week, working on a third.

Take a look!
Yes, it's orange. My friend Jamie has had a profound influence on me.... :-)
Oh, and that's a necklace I made 2 weekends ago too.
Just call me crafty.
In a totally different way then my friend Jennifer T.

New Countertops

We got new countertops today! I love them! They look so fancy and sophisticated. Yay!

In Between...

Here's the removal stage....

New Countertops Today!

We are getting new countertops in our kitchen today! I've been in this house 6 years this month, and it's been getting some nice upgrades in the past 3 months. Paint, chair rail, and now countertops (and fridge)! We're also going to do new hardware on the cabinets this week.

Here is the before.... I'll post after's tonight!

Weekend with the Ladies

Twenty ladies from Memphis ventured to Paris, TN this weekend for a little getaway.

We experienced 24 hours without running water because the pipes were frozen.

20 ladies + no working potties = interesting weekend

But we had a great time! The plumber came and melted our pipes and then water came and it was wonderful! We spent time eating, talking, playing games, watching movies, praying, and making jewelry.

Here are a few photos of the fun!

I recommend The Shack for anyone looking for a good book. Yes God does appear in the form of a large African American woman...but put that behind you and read what they say.

I just finished it for the 2nd time and I think I enjoyed it more now than before because I knew the story line. This time I could read for content- thinkability. And boy does this book have thinkability. :-)

Jesus makes some excellent points in this book about human responsibility vs. expectancy. And one of my favorite conversations is when Jesus says that He should not be at the top of our priority pyramid but instead, in the center of our life's mobile, where every part of our day and life spins out of Him.

Very good book. Go get it!

What is this world coming to??

All week I've seen this man standing on Stage Road near the mall. The first day I saw him I was shocked. I came home and immediately told Matt what I had seen. He thought I was making it up...imagine that!

I saw him again Wednesday and wished I had my camera.

I saw him today and went home, grabbed my camera and hit the road. Yes. It's true.

It's just that his sign was so amazing. It had to be captured.

The problem is...it's not a very good picture. By the time I u-turned, he was up and walking down the street so this is the best I could do.

Read 'em and weep people....

Yes, that's right it says, "Why Lie...Need Beer." I wonder how successful it's been....

PS- I didn't give him any beer.

A Picture a Day...

A friend of mine (Abbie) posted a blog that she is trying to take 1 picture every day to see capture her year. Though I may not do it every day, I do want to get my fancy camera out more often and try to learn how to use it. And Photoshop Express too.

So here's my shot of me and Marley. I used a tripod and the timer. I wish I could find my remote control! I'm trying to figure out how to get less orange light when taking a photo indoors. This is the best I can do right now...

Ask and Thou Shalt Receive

I have been eyeing Starbuck's Christmas decorations all season long. I have asked to buy them- "No" is the answer.

But last week I asked a lady in Starbucks in Target about their decorations and she said they had to be destroyed or donated to a charitable organization. I said, "I work for a church..." and she said bring me a letter.

So today - for FREE! -  I picked up my most favorite Christmas decorations! Next year I'll use them to decorate my office! Yay!

I plan on removing the Starbucks doves and putting new silver or gold ones on, leaving the red outline. So beautiful!

And yes, I painted my kitchen green (in the background).
