6 weeks tomorrow
Emily will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. Simply amazing.
I'll be sure to take some cute pictures and post them for your viewing pleasure.
Right now, she's trying to fall asleep and making some very adorable cooing noises, along with the hiccups and a few sneezes. It's amazing she can ever fall asleep with all that going on!
More to come tomorrow!
But in the meantime, here's a picture from Thanksgiving Day...in Daddy's arms.

Baby girl is 5 weeks old today
Here is Emily at 5 weeks.... in my hands...
and in her Daddy's hands...
(Big difference when one hand his holding a baby and the other a camera! )
And here is Emily with the Tom Selleck version of her Daddy...
Matt grew a goatee while he was off work this month, and then shaved off the chin portion because pilots aren't allowed to have any facial hair, except a mustache. So it was a test run. He looks so different!

1st time mom
It's hard being a first time mom.
It's confusing, frustrating, tiresome, and rewarding all at the same time. But when the baby is crying and it's midnight, you forget about the cute "gas smiles" you get to see when she's cuddling with you during the day. You forget that she's 4 weeks old and can do nothing on her own. You forget that her only way to communicate is to scream at the top of her lungs -- a sad, break your heart kind of cry.
It turns out, I'm a reader. I'm a by-the-book mom. I never fully understood my need to do things "right" and know everything there is to know about a topic until now. I would like an instruction manual for my daughter. I want to be able to read it, take a quiz or something, and then apply it to our day. I want to make an A in parenting. I want to make sure I do everything right so that she won't be scarred as a child. And I want her to be independent but still need her Mommy. Will she turn out okay if I hold her in my "sleepy wrap" and let her fall asleep on my chest (just once or twice I might add)?
I have all these questions, all these desires for her. I know it will all work out, that we're still at the very beginning of parenting and learning by trial and error. But nevertheless, I sit where I started....
It's hard being a first time mom.
And because every post needs pictures....who couldn't love this bundle of joy?

Aunt Ginny's Turquoise Dress
We got all dressed up with no place to go yesterday....except the living room.
Aunt Ginny gave us this dress and I wanted to get her picture in it before it got too cool for short sleeves.
Isn't Emily so pretty! I think blue is her color!!

Emily is 3 weeks old today
My sweet angel is 3 weeks old today. Time is flying by already!
She's sleeping 4-5 hours at night and Dad and I are getting some pretty good sleep these days.
She's lifting her head all the time, taking a bottle once a day and a pacifier every now and then.
She eats, sneezes, coughs, yawns, smiles, and poops like a pro.
Here she is, little Emily!

Emily and Nana
Before my mom left, we took a few pictures. Mom just couldn't wait to try on these "accident victim" bows on her granddaughter. So here she is. The bow lasted for at least a few minutes while Matt was out (he hates these style bows).
