Sunshine is a New Mommy!

Emily's favorite thing in the world (other than Lovie) is Sunshine the cat. Sunshine lives at The Farm- it is the neighbor's cat that comes to see Emily when we are visiting. She LOVES her!

Before our trip we found out that Sunshine was pregnant. We did not know that she would become a mommy while we were visiting.

Story goes: Nana and Emily walked to the neighbors to see Sunshine. Sunshine hops out of her hiding place, in labor, and delivers a kitten on the patio. A little panicked, Nana runs home to tell us, I run over to the neighbors' house, and wait until kitten #2 is born. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! We all go home, return a few hours later to find Sunshine is a momma to 4 baby kittens. 

Here is a video of Emily and Sunshine and kitten #1 (Emily is wearing gloves she found in the back of Granddaddy's truck. No, she was not helping in labor & delivery!).

It was a very cool experience for us all. I had never seen an animal give birth. Very amazing.

Kara's 1st day of MDO

The girls started going to a summer MDO program on Tuesday. This was Kara's first day of Mother's Day Out- ever! So of course, I had to take a few pics to commemorate.

She doesn't stay still for long...on the move!

I cried when I dropped her off- and I think she cried most of the day- but it will get better. For us both.

While Emily has a gorgeous smile, she has always had a very serious look too. And yesterday, I captured it again. Deep in thought, I suppose.

15 month stats

Unafraid of Wiggly Things

While planting our garden, Emily discovered earthworms. And now she loves them. 

Snails, rollie polies, ladybugs, ants, frogs, anything that wiggles or squirms she loves.

Emily's Mad Tumbling Skills

Yesterday was Emily's MDO tumbling observation day. I learned a few things...

1. She likes an audience.

2. Having an audience doesn't always elicit obedience.

3. She's a show off - just like her mom.

So, for example, on the balance beam, she would take one step, fall off, look at me to make sure

 I was watching, grin, get back on the balance beam, take another step, fall, look....repeat....

you get the picture.

But she was very excited Kara and I were there to watch her jump, flip, balance, etc!

I'll begin by saying that I'm not sure I can narrow down the pics I took today. There are about 52 I'd like to post here. But I will try....to have.....some self.....control.....

A few weeks ago we had a Yancy concert at church. Emily loved the music and loved to dance!

Emily's half birthday was April 19th and she had a "whole cupcake for her half birthday."

(She has remembered me saying that and has told several people since. Amazing what sticks in their memories.) Here she is telling Daddy what she had for dinner that night.

Swings

My girls love to swing. We had to bust out the old silver 'car swing' for Emily because she refuses to swing in a big girl swing and wants to be in the blue one Kara needs.

 I asked Emily to smile and I got this instead...
