A box & a monkey. I don't think those were in Julie Andrew's favorite things list. But they are in Kara's!

Emily got a new car seat this week and the girls have both discovered how fun a big box can be! It has provided hours of entertainment...

Besides playing in/on/under/with the box, Kara loves her new monkey. Valentine's Clearance at Target- but she absolutely loves it. She even understands, "Kara, where's your monkey?" and she looks around until she finds it- then smiles!

In other news, Kara now says "Daddy" and gives very wet kisses.

It's been a while....

No, I haven't forgotten about you, blogging world!

One of the reason for the little hiatus is that I have ceased to take weekly pictures of Kara and going to monthly. So you will still get to see her lovely face, just not as often! (No, she's not walking yet.)

The other reason is that we were supposed to be on vacation 2 weeks ago. My mom came to town to babysit the girls while Matt and I went skiing in Utah. But, unbeknownst to us all, Mom came and brought the flu along with her. After 4 Rx's of Tamiflu, we decided to cancel our trip and stay here with 2 feverish girls, a very sick Nana (who didn't leave the "guest quarters" for 3 whole days), and my dad, who drove 12 hours into town to help us all fight off that nasty flu bug.

Long story short, the girls got a little sickly but Matt and I survived. We are sad we didn't get to ski, but grateful that we made the decision to stay with sick and needy babies.

So, no pictures from the mountains. Only of our life that week....

500th Post - "Bottom Scooting"

I've had a few people ask about Kara's "bottom scooting." So, in honor of this monumental 500th post, here's a video of it.

I thought it was a normal method of baby transportation. My family, however (by their continuous laughter) informed me otherwise.

K's Stats

I've so enjoyed having these pictures with the girls' "stats" on them at each age/stage. It helps to remember those small things that you will forget over time. So here are Kara's 1 Year Stats.

And in case you wondering what bottom scooting is...she sits on the hardwoods, legs wide, and bounces up & down on her bottom to scoot across the floor. It's really pretty funny. And now I'll always remember that she did that.

This has been a wonderful year and we can't wait to spend many more with you, precious girl.

52 Weeks Old ~ Kara Mae

Our precious Kara is 52 weeks old today. About this time on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, labor pains and contractions were coming about 8 minutes apart. She would be born at 7:39pm.

Today, I have no contractions. Only joy over this sweet, happy almost-one baby girl.
