Hanging out with Sky & Daniel

So my college roommate (and Bisonette buddy) Sky came and spent the night with me last night. She and her husband are missionaries with the IMB in Zambia. They are on furlough and drove from Virginia to Amarillo, TX, by way of my house in Memphis!

We did a little shopping (yes, those are shoes in the background above) and then went downtown for the best ribs in Memphis- Blues City Cafe- and turns out it was bike night on Beale Street. Lovely....
I really liked this orange skinny one...

Oh my, what do I love about California??

1. The weather!
2. The Nakagawa's, of course!
3. Wearing sweatshirts in July.
4. The fresh veggies and fruits.
5. San Diego Zoo & Sea World
6. Mixing Diet Coke & Mentos
7. And again, the weather!

Heather's Shower

Here are some pictures from Heather's shower tonight.

She got lots of cute things for baby Micah!

It was fun to get to hang out with her and other girl friends in Baptist Hospital. Heather's been there on bed rest for 7 weeks. Just 2 more weeks and then she gets to go home... awaiting the arrival of baby Micah Benjamin.

6 Years Ago Today....

On Monday, July 8, 2002, I packed up everything I owned (clothes, a vacuum, and a maroon desk chair) and moved to Memphis. I drove straight from Houston to Metro Bible Study at Germantown Baptist Church, where every person that I knew in Memphis would be that night. On my way, I called a girlfriend and asked her if I could stay with her while I figured out what I was doing. I lived with her for 3 months (thanks Dena!) before I got my own place (and after 3 months with the Felkins. Thanks Pineapple Pants!).

I was 22 and had just graduated from college. My parents lived in Canada and I no longer had a place to call home. So I made the choice to start my official "adult" life with Highpoint Church in Memphis, TN. Six years later, I have a fantastic husband, a beautiful home, and a crazy sweet dog.

Though I sometimes complain about living in Memphis and would like to move anywhere else, I am so glad God brought me here. He has a plan for everyday. I'm thankful for His sovereignty, and that He brought me here.

Don't tell...I'm bored!

I'm at work, on the day before the 4th of July and I think right now, I'm the only one here. So I thought I'd send out a little hello to anyone reading before I truly get down to work. Here are some pictures from my life.

This is my Academy of Science & Technology graduating class of 98. Our 10 year reunion will be this fall. This was the best group of friends a teenager could ask for. Here is me and my hubby, when we were just dating. It was a fun Christmas in Houston, 2006.Then we got engaged at Medidi in Mississippi (it's Morgan Freeman's restaurant in his home town). A photographer got our picture, and even put us in a magazine. The Delta.
Then we got married and had a....puppy! Marley!
And Matt took me on my first deer hunt last fall... I still don't own any camo. :-)
And now we live happily ever after!

Have a great 4th of July! I'll be sure to post some pictures from the weekend.
